A Different Way to Spend Time Together

Jakarta, Indonesia — As interest in community events, networking gatherings, learning workshops, and curated experiences in Jakarta continues to grow, a new platform called Shared Hours introduces a different way for people to spend time together. It explores how conversation, learning, activities, and shared moments can happen within intentionally designed environments that encourage presence, curiosity, and thoughtful exchange.

Shared Hours is an experiential hospitality platform that brings people together through curated experiences. It sits somewhere between a social gathering, a learning experience, a shared activity, and other ways of spending time together. Each Hour is shaped with intention, allowing people to explore a focused theme through interaction, conversation, activity, or other forms of shared experience. Rather than following the structure of a typical event, seminar, workshop, or networking meetup, Shared Hours creates experiences where people can gather, take part naturally, and discover new perspectives in settings that feel considered, intimate, and inviting.

“Shared Hours is about giving people the space to spend time more intentionally,” said the platform’s founder, Hafis Arif. “The goal is not to deliver a lecture, create another networking event, or simply put people together for an activity. Sometimes the way in is a conversation. Sometimes it is an activity, a place, a movement, or a shared moment. What matters is the intention behind how people come together.”

What Shapes a Shared Hour

Every Shared Hour is shaped by three guiding principles: Intimate by Design, Curated with Intention, and Everyone Has a Way In.

Together, they influence how the setting, scale, flow, topic, activity, experience, or perspective is shaped. The aim is to create space where people can feel present, contribute in different ways, and encounter stories, ideas, experiences, and points of view beyond their own.

These principles do not prescribe one way an Hour should look or feel. Depending on the format, perspective, activity, or setting, one Hour may unfold through conversation, another through movement, learning, exploration, or simply spending time together. What changes is the shape of the experience; what remains is the intention behind how people come together and take part.

How a Shared Hour Takes Shape

Shared Hours currently takes shape through Over Dinner and Over Drinks.

Over Dinner brings a small group together around a shared table, a thoughtfully curated topic, and an Hour Lead while sharing a meal. The topic becomes a starting point rather than a strict boundary, allowing the conversation to move naturally while staying connected to the spirit of the Hour. The emphasis is not simply on meeting new people or networking, but on curiosity, shared perspectives, and the interaction that develops around the table.

Over Drinks offers a lighter, more flexible social experience shaped around drinks, a shared theme, or an activity. The format leaves more room for the group’s energy to shape the Hour, with an Hour Lead included when the experience calls for one.

Over Dinner and Over Drinks are only the starting point. Shared Hours is designed as a multi-format ecosystem, allowing the platform to grow into learning sessions, cultural explorations, movement-based gatherings, reflective formats, trips, and other ways of spending time together.

An Hour Lead may be an individual, community, company, or organization bringing meaningful work, lived experience, knowledge, or perspective into the experience. They are not there to perform or lecture, but to take part alongside others and help open new ways of exploring the Hour. Other formats may instead take shape around a perspective, activity, or the group itself.

Where Shared Hours Goes From Here

These principles have already taken shape through a Shared Hours Over Dinner session with Persatuan Tunanetra Indonesia (PERTUNI), where the conversation explored everyday life beyond visual impairment and the assumptions that often shape how society understands disability. The session reflected what Shared Hours hopes to protect: a space where perspectives that are not always heard can be approached with care, curiosity, and respect.

The same intention extends beyond the session itself. Every Shared Hours social media post includes alt text, allowing people with visual impairments to access the visual story as part of the experience.

Shared Hours is gradually building a network of people, collaborators, communities, and spaces interested in shaping future experiences across Jakarta and beyond. As the platform grows across different formats, the intention remains the same: to create thoughtfully designed ways for people to gather, learn, move, explore, reflect, and spend time together.
